Managing Risks: Safety and Security in Human Rights Work Module 3: Risk Management is not a One-off Activity

“Security is a process that never ends. … One cannot forget that it is important to review the security situation and associated risks on a regular basis to keep these rules up to date.”
Iurii Lisovskyi
Civil Network OPORA, Ukraine
  • How often do you review your security measures? Are you facing any obstacles when trying to have a more consistent approach? How could you tackle them?
Risk management cycle

Module 3 covers the final stages of the risk management process, focusing on monitoring, evaluation, and ensuring the continuity of the process. Through three video lectures, you will explore the cyclical nature of risk management and how to effectively monitor and evaluate safety and security measures. This module introduces the feedback loop as an effective tool for ongoing evaluation of the measures. You will also gain insights into the importance of regular security audits, understand how to involve the right stakeholders in the evaluation process, and recognize how these practices strengthen resilience. By the end of the module, you will understand how monitoring and evaluation contribute to the ongoing improvement of security and risk management.

Remember to explore all three topics of this module and the mandatory additional materials. After completion, you will be encouraged to apply your knowledge in an exercise and the Module 3 quiz.
