News and upcoming opportunities for human rights defenders
Warsaw Human Dimension Conference 2025
The OSCE Finnish Chairpersonship, with the support of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), is hosting a 10-day Warsaw Human Dimension Conference, focusing on the situation of human rights and fundamental freedoms across the OSCE area. The conference will be held in person only on 6–17 October. Participants will have the opportunity to address the entirety of the OSCE human dimension commitments during plenary sessions and side events, covering democratic institutions, the rule of law, tolerance and non-discrimination, fundamental freedoms, and humanitarian issues. Human rights defenders are encouraged to participate, click here to learn more and register for the conference before Monday, 15 September 2025, at 17.00 CET.
Public Consultation: EU Civil Society Strategy
The European Commission has launched public consultations for the forthcoming EU Civil Society Strategy, offering an opportunity for civil society actors, including human rights defenders, to help shape future EU policy in this area. All interested stakeholders are invited to share their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing civil society today. Submissions are open until 5 September 2025.
