This animated video shows an interactive visualisation of “The Life of Balthazar Glättli Under Surveillance” by Open Data City, the experiment that demonstrated the effect of the Swiss government’s data retention policies after Swiss National Councillor Balthasar Glättli (Green Party) voluntarily submitted some of his retained personal data from a six-month period. It aims to raise awareness about data retention policies that are used by governments, secret services, and private companies in order to “profile” a person.
